PLT's multi-media Energy & Society kit, recommended by Parents' Choice and winner of a Children's Music Web Award, provides educators with tools and materials to help students develop critical thinking skills about their personal energy use. Hands-on activities, correlated to national education standards, help youth learn about their relationship with energy and investigate the environmental issues related to energy's role in society. In addition, Energy & Society integrates music and dance to enhance the study of energy issues.
Materials in the Energy & Society kit include:
An Energy & Society Activity Guide, Energy & Me music CD and dance DVD from singer/songwriter, Bill Brennan (Billy B) , and Eight each of the Where is the energy? and What powers the move? posters for use with the activity guide.
The music CD features 15 high-energy songs that complement the kit of written materials, posters, and dance DVD. The DVD features Billy B and youth dancers performing a creative version of selected songs from the CD, and includes step-by-step dance instructions for students. In addition, educators receive a background section, an outline of how to use the Energy & Society materials with students, a student energy primer, ideas for action projects, a list of energy-related children's literature and other resources, and correlations to national standards in science, social studies, and English language arts. |
